Abstract

This study focuses on revitalization of the Hawaiian language in a classroom setting especially at a university level and tries to compensate for Matsubara’s previous works. The author participated several lectures to see what the classes look like and conducted interviews both to the teacher and the students. First, we briefly overview Matsubara’s research and see what he has done. Next, the author introduces a case study in a university classroom setting, and we see what kind of lectures take place to revitalize Hawaiian. Then, we observe interview data from the students and try to find a future perspective for revitalizing the Hawaiian language.
