Abstract

The landscape of the school, and thus the job of the school leader, has changed drastically over the past few years. Leaders are dealing with the lasting mental health and educational effects of a pandemic on society, political unrest and politically motivated dissatisfaction towards any government entity, and the changing influence of technology in schools, as well as society in general. The evolution of the school calls for a new type of leader, and it is imperative that principal preparation providers focus on the leadership skills needed to navigate this new world of school leadership. Our research on school leaders shows the need to adapt principal leadership preparation to meet these challenges.
