This paper examines the research of Arthur Harkins and the Training Center for Community Programs (TCCP) at the University of Minnesota during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. Using primary source research, it attempts to expose the troubled history of non-Native researchers with special attention to present and future implication for renewing education research. It argues that contemporary education researchers must be aware of the troubled history of harm procured by education research. This history is required as a foundation to renew present and future education research.
