Abstract

This paper highlights the findings of a mixed methods survey designed to listen to and better understand the intersectional and diverse identities, experiences, perspectives and desires of community members as they relate to equity, diversity, inclusivity and accessibility (EDIA) in the Department of Education at a western Canadian university. A working group consisting of department employees, teacher candidates, university community members, and an external consultancy co-created and analyzed a survey with the hopes of learning how to nurture a learning landscape of belonging. The findings will support the department as we aim to address harms and inequitable experiences and renew the promise of education that serves all community members through reparatory and reconciliatory practices, policies and pedagogies.
