Enacting Curriculum Studies in Our Places: Duoethnographic Exploration of Our Doctoral Journey and Beyond

Sat, April 26, 1:30 to 3:00pm MDT (1:30 to 3:00pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 1

Abstract

Through duoethnography, we explored our journey in a Curriculum Studies doctoral program, focusing on key scholars, theories, and concepts that helped us develop our commonly shared beliefs regarding the field, as well as how we currently enact praxis within our differing educational roles and places. Data sources included papers and syllabi from our doctoral coursework, transcriptions of video conferences, and online documents where we shared and exchanged ideas. Thematic analysis of data revealed that our doctoral program was deeply rooted in critical theory and introduced us to value-creating approaches to education, both of which inform our current praxis. The stories of our praxis bridge theory and practice and bring voices of emerging scholar-practitioners into the field of Curriculum Studies.
