Using GIS Mapping to Visually Tell the Story of Parent and Provider Preschool Experiences (Poster 5)

Fri, April 25, 3:20 to 4:50pm MDT (3:20 to 4:50pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Exhibit Hall Level, Exhibit Hall F - Poster Session

Abstract

This session will use GIS data mapping to visually convey how location by neighborhood and city quadrant impact findings from city-wide surveys of parents and preschool providers participating in the Denver Preschool Program (DPP) in Colorado. As one of the nation's first ever, voter approved, taxpayer-funded preschool programs, the significance of this work is that it improves researcher and policymaker understanding of how preschool experiences can vary by neighborhood within cities. The discussion will address how GIS mapping can inform improved program delivery for parents and providers by specific city regions and neighborhoods, which has direct application for researchers and program leaders in medium to large sized cities across the country.
