Abstract

Student well-being is not only an important outcome in its own right but also facilitates many other positive school outcomes. Well-being is a multidimensional construct that comprises different indicators. These indicators are interrelated and represent a complex well-being network. This study aims to investigate the network structure of hedonic and eudaimonic well-being and to identify the most central indicators within this network. To achieve this, we employed a network analysis approach. We included 612,004 students from 80 economies to ensure the generalizability of the results across global cultures. The most central indicators in the well-being network were life satisfaction, positive affect, and meaning in life. The results demonstrated strong associations between hedonic and eudaimonic well-being indicators. Implications were discussed.
