We examined 15-year-old adolescents’ math motivation by identifying the latent profiles of self-efficacy, anxiety, and task values in Korea, the United States, and Germany using PISA 2022. Across three countries, four motivation profiles were revealed—Low Motivation, Moderate All, High Anxiety & Attainment Value, and High Motivation. Despite country differences, boys were usually assigned to the extreme profiles. Students’ weaker fixed mindset and teachers’ greater support and fostering reasoning were related to High Motivation profile. For outcomes like engagement in math class, STEM career intention, and math achievement, the four profiles in all three countries showed consistent patterns. However, US students in High Anxiety and Attainment Value profile spent the least time on math homework, unlike Korean and German students.
