Abstract

This research examines the psychometric properties and the cross-cultural invariance of the 8-item Short Inventory of Creative Activities (S-ICA). Rasch Analysis (including unidimensionality, item fit, scale-use, reliability and separation, and Wright map) was performed to evaluate the overall function of the scale, and a DIF analysis was conducted to check whether the scale items functioned differently in the German and US samples. As a result, the S-ICA from the Rasch Analysis convinced that the measure is psychometrically a functional measure of creative everyday activities. However, the three DIF items (Literacy, Cooking, and Sports) in the measure suggested that the scores from the current version of the S-ICA is not appropriate for cross-cultural comparison between US and Germany.
