Abstract

This year’s AERA theme draws our attention to the concepts of remedy, repair, and renewal. It asks us to imagine the kind of research that will help us, jointly, vitalize a just democracy. This paper takes the concepts of renewal and repair as, in and of themselves, worthy of our attention. Are these the right concepts to marshal if what we are after is a just and hospitable social world? Do these concepts respond to our current social milieux and pressing climate emergency? Moreover, are these concepts educationally salient in the way that they help us imagine and enact just and ecologically pedagogical practices, policies and materialities?
