Measuring Creative Pedagogy in Higher Education: Validation of the Inventory of Teaching Practices for Creativity

Thu, April 24, 5:25 to 6:55pm MDT (5:25 to 6:55pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 103

Abstract

This study examined the structural validity of the Inventory of Teaching Practices for Creativity in Higher Education using a sample of 205 undergraduate students. Confirmatory factor analysis supported the four-factor model, leading to the development of a simplified model with enhanced structural validity. The simplified model demonstrated improved fit indices and strong internal consistency (α = .97), (CFI = 0.940, TLI = 0.934, RMSEA = 0.055, and SRMR = 0.070). Findings suggest the Inventory can effectively measure creative pedagogy, providing a reliable tool for educators to assess and enhance creative teaching practices in higher education. This research underscores the importance of fostering creativity through well-defined teaching practices and provides an improved tool for future studies and applied faculty development.
