Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) powered search engines have made historical information more accessible than ever before. Yet, far from democratic technology, extended technology raises pertinent questions in education, particularly as it relates to the teaching, learning, and research of history for our present and future. While generative AI itself is not anti-Black, it necessitates critical awareness, advocacy, and ethical interventions to address and dismantle discriminatory practices encrypted within technological systems. In this paper, I suggest that Black digital humanities, or Black DH, may offer a corrective approach to teaching and researching educational history in the age of antiblackness and artificial intelligence.
