Abstract

Sessional (casual) academics are the largest workforce within our institution, yet the nature of their work and constant changes in the higher educational space invariably leads to a high turnover of sessional staff. This paper will build on existing research about the factors affecting sessional staff experiences in universities and explore how these issues have manifested over time at our university, specifically looking at how they impact us as middle managers.
Our research focus was “What issues are impacting sessional staff in the School of Education at Sunshine University, what has been done and what needs to be done in the future?”
