The current study employed a quantitative correlational design to explore the relationship between years of participation in a Spanish Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program and academic achievement and college readiness. Purposeful and convenient clustering was used in this study. Data was gathered for the graduated seniors from the 2022 and 2023 school years at five comprehensive high schools within three urban school districts in Southern California. Students who were enrolled as seniors in and graduated from high schools that offered a Spanish dual language immersion program within all three school districts in the 2022 and 2023 school years were included. It is found that participation in a Spanish DLI is positively related to academic achievement and college readiness.
