Values-Based Inquiry in Cross-Cultural Research: Toward Remedy and Repair

Fri, April 25, 1:30 to 3:00pm MDT (1:30 to 3:00pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 711

Abstract

As part of an international cross-cultural research community, the presenters share their co-learning with other practitioner researchers about the role of values in education and educational research. Values need to be acknowledged and shared for extending understanding and human flourishing in our world. They extend their influence by supporting and encouraging others to examine their values, trying to live them more fully and supporting others to do the same. Using action research cycles in creating living-educational-theories, values are used as explanatory principles and standards of judgment in order to assess the nature of their influence and its contribution to improving themselves, others and the world. The presenters invite dialogue with the attendees to share their knowledge and improve their understandings.
