Spatial reasoning skills are essential to young children’s mathematics learning but are infrequently emphasized in formal curricula or instruction in early childhood. In this study, we sought to gain a deeper understanding of how to support children in learning spatial reasoning skills through mathematics by identifying specific connections to the skillset within a Reggio Emilia-inspired kindergarten mathematics project. We examined an integrated project that offered opportunities for children to learn and practice spatial reasoning skills through mathematics-related activities designed to support young learners' holistic mathematical development. The research findings reveal the Reggio Emilia-inspired approach as one way to include spatial reasoning in early childhood education, which could help educators provide joyful mathematics learning experiences and environments for young children.
