Thu, April 24, 3:35 to 5:05pm MDT (3:35 to 5:05pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 2-3

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of culturally responsive instruction (CRI) among teachers throughout an academic year, emphasizing the extent, difficulty, and barriers to implementing CRI's practices in their classrooms. Using a rapid survey to obtain teacher feedback, the research evaluates how consistently and easily they integrated CRI practices in their classrooms as they participated in professional learning. It further assesses the challenges teachers face in adopting these methods and identifies significant obstacles hindering implementation. The findings aim to provide insights for instructional coaches in training teachers to overcome the challenges of implementing CRI by informing coaching strategies and professional development programs; this study seeks to enhance the effective adoption of CRI principles, ultimately fostering more inclusive and equitable educational environments.
