Abstract

This study examined the musical progress and perceptions of Bolivian children with exceptionalities as they prepared a musical drama performance for their community. Though 30 children were involved in this project, the primary focus was on the experiences and opinions of two girls—Selena and Vicki. Zygonic theory was employed as a theoretical framework, and the Sounds of Intent Framework, which stems from zygonic theory, was utilized as an assessment instrument to gauge the children’s musical growth. This study employed a narrative analysis using video observation notes, daily journals, photographs, other documents, and video-recorded interviews with children. Results confirmed prior findings, showcasing the benefits of interactive music-making activities for children with exceptionalities. Additional implications will be discussed.
