Informing FAIR Data Principles of Publicly Accessible Open School Equity Data Using Data Taxonomies

Wed, April 23, 12:40 to 2:10pm MDT (12:40 to 2:10pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 104

Abstract

As public open access K-12 school data becomes widely available through local, state, and federal agencies, recent frameworks propose an equity orientation towards data categorization. However, the existing data does not conform to common data standards, such as Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) data principles, which limits the interoperable merging and reuse of dta to surface challenges and successes in education systems. Thus, we propose a data taxonomy to complement FAIR equity data principles.
