Abstract

Advancing methodological and pedagogical tools for educational research and praxis attentive to Queer and Trans Latinx collaborators is vital to best analyze counterstories of the expensive sexual and gender community. With origins in critical race theory, Jotería critical race hypotheticals (hereinafter referred as jotx-crit hypos) serve as an instrument to center Queer and Trans Latinx realities with the purpose of delving into complex counterstories that cisnormative methods may not accomplish. Guided by its initial implementation in a study of Queer Transfronterizx students, the paper delineates fundamental features that distinguish jotx-crit hypos from racial hypos (Bell, 1992; 1999) and critical race hypos (Perez Huber & Solorzano, 2018) and the additions to research for, by, and with Queer and Trans Latinxs.
