Abstract

This study explores the intersectional identities of Hannah, a 49-year-old woman with physical disabilities (cerebral palsy) in South Korea. Conducted through in-depth interviews and document analysis of her essay, the research foregrounds Hannah's voice to produce counternarratives that challenge master narratives about disability. By employing a Disability Studies and the framework of intersectionality, the study reveals how Hannah's gender, SES, and disability intersect to shape her educational and life experiences. The findings highlight the importance of recognizing multiple layers of stigma and discrimination faced by individuals with disabilities. This research underscores the need for a multifaceted approach in addressing the unique barriers encountered by disabled individuals in both educational and social contexts.
