This study investigates the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in classrooms through focus group interviews with 19 middle school teachers actively using AI platforms. The research aimed to understand the motivations behind their AI use. Findings show that teachers employ AI for two main purposes: efficiency and creativity. AI tools enhance efficiency by saving time, refining classroom resources, and differentiating learning materials and assessments. For creativity, AI assists in developing lessons, resources, and assessments. These insights are valuable for educators, policymakers, and researchers interested in AI integration in rural education and its implications for future educational practices.
