Abstract

This paper aims to re-conceptualize teacher resilience, develop a teacher resilience inventory, and explore its relationship to job satisfaction. A small teacher sample (N = 25) using convenience sample was approached to generate new items and domains. A larger teacher sample (N = 292) was surveyed to estimate construct validity of the teacher resilience inventory. Then, a total of 574 teachers were invited to examine the relationship between resilience and job satisfaction. The findings indicated five dimensions of teacher resilience, namely, physical, emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual resilience. Meanwhile, results found teacher resilience significantly predicted teachers’ job satisfaction. Theoretical and practical implications were also provided.
