Abstract

October 7th, 2023 was a tragic day globally centering Palestine and Israel. It opened up a world of discourse shaping global perspectives on a settler colonial relationship that existed well before October 7th, 2023. This study examined how Asian American social media educators make sense of the Palestine-Israel relationship by examining Instagram posts between October 7th - 14th and what this means for Asian American politics and education on this settler colonial project. This study used content and multi-modal discourse analysis from Instagram posts which found that the selected educators conceptualized the Palestine-Israel relationship Palestinian genocide and a product of settler-colonialism. This study remedies the misrepresentation and/or direct omission of Asian American transnational context and perspective within education research.
