This research focuses on 16 doctoral students in the humanities and social sciences, employing qualitative research methods to illustrate their paper publishing experiences. The findings reveal that doctoral students encounter multiple pressures and psychological struggles throughout publication processes. The intangible "judgment" stemming from institutional pressures of the academic community shapes students' self-perceptions through the feedback received during the review process. In their struggles, students internalize the implicit knowledge and rules of the academic community. The competitive atmosphere surrounding academic achievements significantly influences the students' temporal rhythms and action strategies. While being influenced by the values of the academic community, some students continuously make critical choices for their research careers, thereby gaining resilience and mental fortitude.
