Artificial Intelligence (AI) has wildly grown in popularity over the past decade within schools. With the implementation of different tools like Chat GPT and smart devices, it is important to understand how AI affects students’ dispositions in general and outcome expectations specifically. This study aimed to analyze the outcome expectations from the student perspective after a group of 39 Black middle and high school students participated in a two-week summer program learning about AI in science utilizing computer vision and Google Teachable Machine. This study revealed that Black secondary students had positive perceptions of AI usage which has not been addressed in prior literature. Outcome expectations, while positive, varied across different genders but followed trends seen in prior literature.
