Abstract

This research explores the effectiveness of online simulations in promoting LGBTQ-inclusive practices in teacher education programs. This study utilizes online simulations within literacy methods courses to examine their influence on teacher candidates' handling of LGBTQ topics in elementary settings. Through the use of rich, sociocultural simulations, the study aims to equip teacher educators with effective tools to facilitate deep and impactful discussions on LGBTQ inclusion and related educational strategies. Our research points to the power of the simulations in opening spaces for teacher educators and their students to understand the complexities and power of creating safe spaces and using inclusive practices.
