Thu, April 24, 3:35 to 5:05pm MDT (3:35 to 5:05pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 1

Abstract

This qualitative study gauged the subjective perceptions and experiences of K-12 teachers working in the private sector in Kuwait regarding implementing formative assessments in their classrooms. Utilizing a case study framework, the thematic analysis focused on capturing the characteristics, processes, and features of formative assessment implementation, as well as documenting the perspectives, attitudes, and experiences of teachers involved in these practices. One-on-one interviews facilitated an in-depth understanding of formative assessment implementation and helped capture multiple perspectives in rich detail. Moreover, using this framework aided in exploring organizational factors surrounding the implementation of assessments and how these factors influence teacher perceptions of assessments.
