This study aimed to examine the dimensionality of the home science environment (HSE) in preschool children. Data from 983 caregivers who reported the frequency of their engagement in various home science activities were analyzed using a novel network approach called exploratory graph analysis (EGA). The results showed that the HSE could be decomposed into four distinct dimensions, including nature exploration activities, hands-on activities, scientific inquiry and communication activities, and informational science activities. The four dimensions were stable and possessed adequate reliability. The findings not only help advance the current understanding of the components of the HSE in early childhood but also showcase the promise of a novel technique from a network science perspective.
