Fri, April 25, 1:30 to 3:00pm MDT (1:30 to 3:00pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 2-3

Abstract

This paper focuses on Chinese transmigrant teachers’ interactions with parents in Utah’s Mandarin dual language bilingual education (DLBE) programs. Using a racial microaggressions framework, this study explores how Chinese teachers navigate and respond to communications with parents. Qualitative data from teacher interviews illuminate the manifestations of racial microaggressions. By shedding light on these experiences, the study aims to deepen understanding of racial dynamics within DLBE and inform efforts to create more inclusive educational environments.
