This study details the practices of (Author 3) teaching CLSP through a framework of critical literacy to remedy the harm caused by non-critical schooling systems and repair the dignity of her fellow BIPOC students. Set in a diverse public high school in the southeast, this narrative inquiry explores how including course content that centers Black joy and experience can lead to just education renewal for both students and teachers of color. Drawing on in-service teacher reflection, documents, and course materials, as well as researcher dialogue, we emphasize the reparative role research can play in informing practicing teacher pedagogy and critical consciousness.
