Abstract

Factors influencing this development include social belonging, exposure to science-related activities, and the impact of supportive educators and peers. The methodology for this meta-synthesis involved conducting a systematic literature review to identify and analyze qualitative studies focused on science identity development across various educational stages. Utilizing a coding process, common themes and effective interventions were extracted from the selected studies to construct a comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing science identity.
The findings underscore the importance of fostering inclusive and effective educational practices that promote positive science identity across populations. It is clear that cultivating science identity as a fundamental aspect of science education, enhancing students' motivation and engagement in the field significantly impacts science identity formation.
