Learning, Unlearning, and Relearning: Reflections From Year 3 of a Multi-Year Research Grant

Wed, April 23, 12:40 to 2:10pm MDT (12:40 to 2:10pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 4

Abstract

Educators in the central XXX region, are learning to negotiate the complexities held within reconciling conversations with their students, colleagues, and communities. To do this, they need: opportunities to learn alongside local Indigenous People, in community, and on the land; space and time to enlarge and deepen new understandings; opportunities to share learning, unlearning and relearning; and safe spaces to be vulnerable learners. Over the past three years, participants have voiced appreciation for the opportunity to come alongside Elders, Knowledge Keepers, youth and community members to learn local Ways of Being and Knowing. The grappling work, as they acquire new understanding, is not something to be acquired or obtained but rather an ongoing internal journey toward just educational renewal.
