Abstract

Math proficiency is crucial for academic and career success, with Algebra 1 as a gateway for future STEM opportunities. Yet, many students enter algebra courses underprepared. Math Nation, aligned with Common Core, aims to improve math proficiency through engaging videos, practice tools, and teacher support. This study synthesizes 13 evaluation studies from the 2022-2023 school year to assess Math Nation's effectiveness. A random-effects meta-analysis revealed a small but significant positive effect (Cohen’s d = 0.10) in the first year, despite ongoing teacher training and onboarding. This suggests Math Nation's potential to enhance student math performance. Future work will include 2023-24 data to evaluate the impact of Math Nation after full teacher onboarding and training.
