Abstract

The digital transformation is altering education. School development is necessary to implement digital education technologies in schools. Obstructive barriers to innovation (Reiß 1997) and supportive promotional activities (Witte 1973) have an impact on this implementation process. For this, an interview study was conducted with different actors at 16 vocational schools (n=46) in a German federal state. The aim is to illustrate the complexity of innovation processes in the implementation of digital educational technologies with help of a fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis. The results show different conditional combinations of innovation barriers and promotion activities for (not) successful school development in the implementation of digital technologies, whereby the subject promoter plays an important role in the successful implementation of digital technologies.
