Wed, April 23, 4:20 to 5:50pm MDT (4:20 to 5:50pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 1

Abstract

This study presents an integrated parent-child program, incorporating video-based activities, parent workshops, and home activities, that features both executive functions (EFs) training and school readiness (SR) training activities as a school transition support. It evaluates the effectiveness of the video-based component of the program through a randomized controlled trial with 173 five to six-year-old Hong Kong preschoolers (Intervention = 79; Control = 94). Results from the two-way mixed ANOVA revealed that the main effect of Time and the Time X Group interaction effect were significant. The intervention group demonstrated greater improvements in EFs compared to the control group, supporting the efficacy of the video-based component and giving promise to the integrated approach to enhancing EFs and SR in preschoolers.
