Abstract

Despite advancements in higher education, deaf students continue to face significant challenges. Triangulation analyses of two datasets of deaf students and the disability service professionals that serve them revealed critical gaps in support for deaf college students. Key issues identified include conflicting feedback, insufficient support for intersectional identities, and inconsistent accommodation practices. Addressing these issues is crucial for enhancing deaf students' sense of belonging, which can improve retention and overall postsecondary outcomes. This analysis highlights where current approaches and standard practices are falling short and emphasizes the need for improved individualized support to foster a more inclusive environment for deaf students.
