Thu, April 24, 3:35 to 5:05pm MDT (3:35 to 5:05pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 711

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to highlight teacher apprenticeship programs as an innovative approach to preparing teacher candidates. Teacher apprenticeship programs are emerging as a strategic and sustainable approach to address teacher recruitment and retention challenges in education. These programs, which combine coursework with practical classroom experience, are designed to attract a diverse pool of candidates by minimizing the barriers to entry into the teaching profession. The Capital City Teacher Residency program, CCTR, is a two-year program that is entirely online and asynchronous. The program, targeted at working adults who need flexibility in their program, supports passionate teacher candidates who have been met with several barriers to receiving their license.
