Fri, April 25, 1:30 to 3:00pm MDT (1:30 to 3:00pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Terrace Level, Bluebird Ballroom Room 2C

Abstract

This case study explores the pathways of change in a language teacher’s knowledge, beliefs, and practices through in situ professional development focusing on generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) integration. Ms. Daisy, a doctoral student with rich teaching experience, taught English speaking classes that incorporated ChatGPT at a U.S. public library. Data from the reflection interview recordings were analyzed. The study identified key pathways of change in Ms. Daisy’s teaching practices and perceptions, highlighting the role of reflective practices and real-time application in enhancing TPACK and her attitudes and perceptions toward using GenAI. Findings emphasize the importance of context-specific professional development and provide insights into how GenAI can create engaging, responsive learning environments, supporting teachers’ adaptation to new technologies.
