Abstract

This study conducted a systematic review of the influence of STEM culture on the experiences of underrepresented STEM students, such as women, Black, and Latinx students. Following the PRISMA approach, this study analyzed 96 articles in the related field. It illustrates the multifaceted nature of STEM culture, which shapes students' experiences through various key stakeholders such as faculty, peers, academic advisors, and university administrators. Faculty’s mindset, cultural competence, interactions, and resources shape students’ perception of STEM culture. It addresses the culture across different spaces, including classrooms, labs, and departments. The research also identifies the initiatives and interventions that aim to create a more inclusive STEM culture.
