Abstract

“Post-pandemic” trauma-induced behaviors and impacts have deepened already-present racialized achievement disparities. These conditions lend to increased suspensions/expulsions, an evening widening academic gap, and leader and teacher burnout. In response, some district leaders have invested in coaching to offer support for school communities. This proposal explores transformative anti-racist coaching as a reframe to “post-pandemic” learning and offers unique opportunities to create systems that critically analyze data to ultimately design antiracist approaches to transform student achievement. In this paper, we present three case studies examining the impact of one coaching intervention, transformative anti-racist coaching, a powerful “post-pandemic” model that ultimately aims to address systemic problems of racism that are amplified post-online instruction.
