Multi-User Extended Reality Simulation–Based Learning: A Systematic Review (Poster 6)

Thu, April 24, 1:45 to 3:15pm MDT (1:45 to 3:15pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Exhibit Hall Level, Exhibit Hall F - Poster Session

Abstract

The integration of multi-user virtual technologies has emerged as a prominent trend in global education. While research on extended reality (XR) simulation-based learning has proliferated, a comprehensive synthesis remains elusive. This study reviewed 67 relevant articles, uncovering a lack of learning theory integration for both content design and effectiveness assessment. The research emphasis was largely on student-student interaction dynamics, with limited exploration of student-teacher interactions. Nevertheless, the findings demonstrate the broadly positive impact of multi-user XR simulation-based learning on social engagement and diverse learning outcomes. These insights offer valuable implications for educators and researchers seeking to effectively leverage multi-user XR to enhance educational experiences and achievements.
