Abstract

The College Access Network (CAN) used a whole-school approach informed by improvement science to increase well-matched postsecondary enrollment rates. We estimated the impact of the CAN among Latinx students by comparing the outcomes of students attending schools associated with the CAN with outcomes of similar students in a neighboring comparison district. Results suggest that the CAN had a significant, positive impact on high school graduation (particularly for male Latinx students and Latinx students who were not classified as English learners) and a positive impact on college enrollment among male Latinx students. However, impacts on college outcomes did not achieve statistical significance for the overall sample of Latinx students, for English learners, or for Latinx students from low-income families.
