Introduction
Professional organizations play a crucial role in shaping the education landscape through their policies, bylaws, and missions, influencing researchers, practitioners, and advocates. This presentation explores the approaches of four key organizations—Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT), American Educational Research Association (AERA), Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE), and International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE)—towards inclusion and equitable access for their members.
Purpose of Symposium Paper
This presentation aims to engage AERA members in community engagement, emphasizing their role in shaping the professional community. Discussions will focus on initiatives to enhance inclusivity and accessibility at professional events, supported by an analysis of similar organizations' practices regarding differently-abled members' perceived inclusivity.

Definitions and Theories of Organizational Identification
Organizational identification refers to the psychological state where individuals integrate their membership feelings into self-definition, reflecting their alignment with the organization's values, mission, and objectives (Ashford & Mael, 1989). Research underscores its significance, correlating strong identification with higher performance, engagement in organizational citizenship behaviors, and increased service to the organization (Dukerich et al., 2002; Riketta, 2005; Van Dick et al., 2006; Schuh et al., 2016).
Importance of Inclusivity in Professional Organizations
Inclusive environments embrace diversity, fostering fairness and facilitating networking, learning, and professional growth. Diverse perspectives in conferences stimulate innovation and creativity, driving positive changes across professional domains. Ensuring accessibility is not just ethical but essential to respecting individuals and eliminating barriers beyond their control.
Impact on Member Attitudes and Belonging
AERA's theme "Research, Remedy, and Repair: Toward Just Education Renewal" reflects their commitment to inclusivity and equity, prompting critical conversations within the community (Scott et al., 2024). Aquino (2024) advocates for accessibility audits at professional conventions to enhance event inclusivity for attendees with disabilities, outlining essential considerations for success. Inclusivity enhances professional environments, benefiting attendees, organizers, and the broader community (Author et al., 2024). Organizational missions, policies, and bylaws underscore their dedication to advancing education through technology and research, leveraging inclusion and accessibility for positive social impact.
