Thu, April 24, 5:25 to 6:55pm MDT (5:25 to 6:55pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Terrace Level, Bluebird Ballroom Room 2D

Abstract

This presentation explores the profound impact of racism on the mental wellness of Black women faculty and administrators in higher education through an action research study. The study identifies systemic challenges faced by Black women in academia, highlighting their vulnerability to severe mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. These challenges stem from pervasive racial discrimination and a lack of institutional support, exacerbating feelings of invisibility and isolation.
