Abstract

This study examines the predictive power of two instruments, the High Integrity and Fidelity in School Renewal (HIFI) and School Renewal Principles and Practices (PP), on school-level student achievement. The instruments were administered to teachers in 82 schools across 38 districts. Hierarchical linear modeling is used to analyze the instruments' relationships with proficiency rates in mathematics and English Language Arts (ELA). Both instruments show significant predictive power, particularly in ELA. The PP instrument demonstrates stronger and more consistent predictive validity across subjects, even when controlling for prior achievement. These findings suggest that the instruments, especially PP, effectively capture school renewal practices linked to improved student outcomes, providing valuable tools for research, policy, and school improvement.
