Sat, April 26, 1:30 to 3:00pm MDT (1:30 to 3:00pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 608

Abstract

In this study, we investigated the literacy and numeracy knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) needed across most in-demand industries and occupational job zones. We used the Occupational Information Network (O*NET) database, specifically mean importance and level ratings from the KSA and Work Context questionnaires. Study results revealed the: 1) specific literacy and numeracy KSAs needed across industries; 2) particular literacy and numeracy KSA levels needed across job zones; and 3) work contexts needed in specific literacy and numeracy KSAs in particular industries and job zones. This information is needed to inform workplace-relevant task development to bridge the workplace and academic contexts to help adult learners upskill needed KSAs in the workplace.
