Abstract

After I left my university, performing Teaching Anti-Racism in Charleston South Carolina helped me understand that I mattered still. Black woman’s teaching is about wholeness and being made whole. Performing helped me understand I am part of a collective : a bricolage of teacher, researcher, artist, advocate and simultaneously a descendant from ancestors and a future ancestor to descendants. Anti-racist culturally responsive teaching is not something manufactured by academia. My Grandfather’s lessons used CRT. It is what we do as Black women, because we are committed to loving and respecting and building up Black children.
