Abstract

The integration of simulation in international medical education has seen a rapid expansion. However, the feasibility of simulation-based medical education has been questioned due to its high cost and the lack of comprehensive effectiveness evaluations. Therefore, it is essential to conduct a cost-effectiveness analysis to determine whether simulated medical education is worthwhile. However, traditional CEA metrics rely on thresholds and do not measure transfer effects. To address these limitations, we propose a methodological innovation that combines Transfer Effectiveness Ratios and Incremental Transfer Effectiveness Ratios with Isoperformance Curves and Change-Point Analysis. In addition, we develop a software program via R platform allowing one to either execute the R script or simply running it in his/her local computers as an independent app.
