Fri, April 25, 8:00 to 9:30am MDT (8:00 to 9:30am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 606

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of a character-based decision-making framework, at College [blinded for review]. Using a mixed-methods approach over two waves of data collection, the research assessed how Communities of Practice (CoPs) facilitate the adoption of the character framework. Results indicate that CoP participants showed significantly higher interest, awareness, knowledge, and use of resources compared to non-participants. Social network analysis revealed that CoP members had more conversations with colleagues related to the character framework, suggesting these groups spread the character framework concepts throughout the college. Consistent patterns across both waves support the effectiveness of the CoP approach in embedding the character framework within the college. This study provides a foundation for refining character education initiatives in higher education settings.
